Coastal Connections is a youth and young adult resource center funded through the Mental Health Service Act (MHSA), staffed by Prevention Programs staff. The center serves youth and young adults, from 14 to 25 yrs old.

Community Action Partnership of Del Norte

A program of the Del Norte Senior Center, the Community Action Partnership of Del Norte is Del Norte County’s local member of the national Community Action network. Community Action was established by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 as part of Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty and the advocacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The mission of Community Action is to address the causes and effects of poverty in local communities by connecting families to greater opportunity.

Community Development Department

The Department of Community & Family Services was established in March 2006 by the Tribal Council. The primary purpose and functon of the Department is to ensure the wellness of tribal citzens by providing social services with both Tribal funds and multple grant awards.

County of Del Norte

Del Norte County is a county at the far northwest corner of the U.S. state of California, along the Pacific Ocean adjacent to the Oregon border. As of the 2010 census, the population was 28,610. The county seat and only incorporated city is Crescent City. Del Norte was pioneered and settled by Azorean Portuguese explorers and dairy farmers, which may account for the local pronunciation of the county name. Locals pronounce the county name as Del Nort, not Del Nor-teh as would be expected in Spanish.

The Crescent City Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) is a non-profit organization that promotes leadership through community service. During the organization, planning, and execution of community events, we can provide valuable leadership training to our members.

DA Victim/Witness Office

The Del Norte County Victim/Witness Assistance Center, operated by the Del Norte County District Attorney, provides supportive services to victims and witnesses of crime. Victim advocates provide court escort for victims who must testify and to victims and their families at the time of sentencing.

Supporting services for Del Norte County by bringing families and professional resources in, child care subsidy, family child care referrals, food program for family child care providers, toy lending library, parent education, supervised visitation, school readiness, child abuse prevention, car seat lending, childcare centers for preschool, after school care and more.

Del Norte County Mental Health Branch

We welcome you to County of Del Norte Department of Health and Human Services Behavioral Health Branch (DHHS, BHB) and to the Medi-Cal Mental Health Plan. In January, 2019 we intergrated our Alcohol and Other Drugs and Mental Health Branches into one Behavioral Health Branch. We provide specialty mental health services for people who live in Del Norte County, including those who are eligible for Medi-Cal. We are applying to become Drug Medi-Cal certified.

LIHEAP is a federal program operated locally by the Del Norte Senior Center – Community Action Partnership of Del Norte that provides assistance to eligible low-income households to manage and meet their immediate home heating and/or cooling needs. The program also provides low-income households with services to weatherize homes so they are more energy-efficient.

Del Norte Community Wellness Center in Crescent City is a community garden where individuals and families may rent a garden plot for free. Tolowa Dee-Ni’ Nation: Mvn’-dvn (Housing Division)

The Housing Department was established in 2001 through the rescinding of the Smith River Rancheria Housing Authority. The primary purpose of the Department is to ensure housing resources of the Nation are secured. The Department oversees eleven programs, and has been awarded HUD grants annually. The primary function on the Department is to provide appropriate housing for the citizens of the Nation.

WIC helps families by providing nutrition education, breastfeeding support, healthy foods, and referrals to healthcare and other community services.

WIC serves babies and children up to age 5, pregnant women, and new mothers. Dads, grandparents, foster parents of young children, and working families are welcome at WIC too!

The Primary Mission of the Yurok Indian Housing Authority shall be to provide affordable, safe and decent housing to lower-income tribal members.
